What If?

I must be getting bored.  However, after years of "doing", I think I may have finally come across something that is very amusing (at least to me)... my imagination.  I wasn't one of those children who had an amazing "pretend" world.  My pretend was pretty much imitating the real world.
I am probably doing this backwards, but as I grow older... I am finally beginning to let my imagination run wild and be OK with it.  If you are willing, I would like to share my new world...since it is difficult to find 50+ year old playmates.

So today, my "WHAT IF" is....  What if everyone could read each other's mind and we could not hide one thought from anyone?  What if we were born this way and what would the world look like?

I know right now that if my thoughts could be read, I would either have to put myself in isolation, or others would murder me.  I am pretty sure I am not alone here...although there may be a few that have only good and loving thoughts.  Really?

If we were all born knowing this and trained to have "good" thoughts for survival purposes, I am pretty sure the world would be a better place.  I think I would find out quickly what not to think.

Right now, we all know what not to "say" (well, most of us....most of the time), and so our society looks pretty civilized and it looks like we all get along pretty well.  But our words and actions do not always match what we really think.

Because our thoughts are currently private, there is no real motivation to change them.  I think the thought of taking away our "thought privacy" is pretty scary because it is our one true place for freedom without any consequences. The thought of losing this freedom makes me quite uncomfortable.

However, I think we would all be on our best "thought" behavior because we wouldn't know any different.  There would be no evil thoughts because of years and years of conditioning.

At present, we cannot read each other's thoughts.  But who knows what science and the future will bring?  Maybe we better start practicing now just in case!  I mean God may know all of our private thoughts, but I don't think humans are quite as forgiving.
